About Aspen

4I am in love with music. When I listen to a song, I find one line that I think is so clever, and I am obsessed with it. One of my favorite lines I’ve ever heard is, “Andthey say I’m wasting my time cause you’re never coming home. But they used to say the world was flat and how wrong was that now?” –The Script. I am also so inspired by John Mayer and Sara Bareilles. Of course, I love to hang out with my family and friends. They are so supportive in what I do, and it makes me love it that much more. The balance between school and music gets difficult sometimes, but you can usually find me in class, writing down lyrics and melodies in my noteboook.

I started playing guitar when I was nine years old. I had already started making up songs and singing little tunes; I could now put music with those lyrics. I was hooked; I never put it down. My first “gig” was that same year. I laugh looking back at the pictures and videos of that night, but it was the start to bigger things to come. I started playing small shows, open mics, and local festivals. 12 was a big year for me. I put three original songs on iTunes; two of those songs were played on 94.9 The Bull Backyard Country. The highlight came in October of that year, when Sonia Leigh asked me to open for her at The Variety Playhouse. That was the night it all became clear. This was what I wanted to do with my life. I met Zac Brown backstage and he told me I did a good job; I will never forget that moment. My birthday always seems to come with amazing performance presents. On my 13th birthday, I was asked to open for Riley Biederer. Then on my 14th birthday, I was invited on stage to sing a song with my favorite Atlanta musician, Gareth Asher. I have since opened several shows for Gareth Asher and the Earthlings.

I feel very lucky to take voice and guitar at Jan Smith Studios in Atlanta. My vocal coach, Dionne Osboume, is incredible and is like a mom to me. Peter Vogl challenges me on the guitar and makes me see music in very different ways. I love working with both of them. I spend most weekends playing at local venues. The best feeling in the world is having a little kid ask to get a picture with me. My fans are my world.

I don’t know what my future holds, but I know music will be part of it.
